Selfish Looks Good on You
Ladies, Women, Mommas, Grand mommas, you have not been forgotten. It may seem that with every new stretch mark, the world drifts on and who you feel you used to be is just a memory of prior days. It may seem like every ounce your pour into your entire list of demands, including being everything to everyone is simply unnoticed.
Know, that I see you. Your army sees you too, they just forget to tell you sometimes.
That, though is where I'm going to hold you accountable. It is time to take responsibility as women to be selfish.
It is impossible to be everything to everyone if we are not filling our own cup. This doesn't have to be material. If you need to hear that you are doing a good job, tell yourself that you are doing a good job. They say you should nurture plants by talking to them, it helps them grow. Nurture yourself with the kindest words and genuine thoughtfulness and amaze yourself with your own growth.
Remove areas of your life that don't bring you the energy that you need. Maintaining healthy boundaries from negative energy is one of the most undervalued areas for a woman's growth; you can do it.
Internal growth can feel selfish.
Taking a step back from toxicity may seem selfish.
Pausing when you need to pause can feel selfish.
Not attending when you need rest may seem selfish.
but it looks good on you.
You have given the time; the aging is reflected on your body.
You have given the experience; you children have an abundance of memories.
You have given the expertise; your accomplishments display them.
Time is the most precious thing we have. Before any more passes, I encourage you to be selfish.
